Julia Cropley is a highly experienced trauma specialist, counsellor, and public speaker with more than 30 years of experience across the fields of family, domestic and sexual violence, mental health, trauma, and community services. She is the founder of Knowing You Matters Counselling Service, where she works with individuals, organisations, and communities to support healing and recovery.
Throughout her career, Julia has worked across multiple Australian states in leadership, counselling, advocacy, and program development roles, including within correctional services, homelessness services, and domestic and family violence sectors. She has supported organisations to establish and strengthen trauma-informed programs and frameworks, with a strong focus on psychological safety, accountability, and compassionate care.

Julia will be covering topics such as the differences between a counsellor and chaplain, including the distinct roles, boundaries, approaches, and ways each profession supports people through emotional, psychological, and spiritual challenges. She will also focus on providing spiritual care to people who have experienced or been impacted by trauma, including understanding trauma, responding in a trauma-informed way, and the role of spiritual support in healing and recovery.
